About Us

We have provided research and consultancy services to the public transport industry since 1989.

We are now the largest UK consultancy business to work exclusively within this field, with more than 30 employees and associates.

We have completed more than 600 projects for bus and rail operators, local authorities, UK and Irish government departments and other agencies. Our annual turnover exceeds GBP 1.5m.

We are unique in several ways, which we believe offers substantial benefit to clients in our field, because:

  • We work within a single field, passenger transport, in which all our expertise is concentrated.
  • All our senior employees have substantial practical experience of transport management, planning or operations with local authorities, transport operators or both.
  • Our mixture of research, publishing and consultancy within our field provides us with a far more comprehensive knowledge of the passenger transport sector than other consultancies - other consultants purchase and rely on our research and reports.
  • Our practical "hands-on" approach is reinforced by exclusive arrangements with several major transport operators under which senior managers are seconded to us for consultancy projects.

All our work is subject to our ISO 9001 registered Quality Management System, and is independently monitored with confidential client assessments of performance.

The table below shows the questions asked and the aggregate scores in the responses received from clients to date during 2007. Our internal procedures include two stages of checking of all our Task Notes and Reports.

We are committed to providing high quality, objective, value for money advice and consultancy to the public transport industry. We do this by:

  • Maintaining a robust ISO 9001 registered Quality Management system. This includes client assessment of our performance after the end of each project.
  • Understanding that we are only as good as the next job that we do.
  • Rejecting bid invitations that we regard as pointless, or only supporting a particular view, and expressing these concerns to the issuer of the invitation.
  • Being honest, telling it straight, and ensuring that the opinions we express are backed by factual analysis.
  • Travelling standard class, and routinely sending only one properly prepared person to represent The TAS Partnership Ltd at meetings with clients.
  • Maintaining only one office to avoid duplication of overhead.
  • Investing in the personal development of our staff, enabling flexible work patterns to suit individual lifestyles and rewarding the contribution of each staff member, and
  • Continuously seeking to improve.
