Helping the Performance of the Privatised Railway
TAS has been involved in rail privatisation since the start of the process in 1993. We are an associate member of the Passenger Demand Forecasting Council, run by the Association of Train Operating Companies and a Corporate Sponsor of the Association of Community Rail Partnerships.

Rail Franchise Bids
In the past five years, we have acted as adviser to a variety of companies bidding to operate rail franchises, including:
- Thameslink / Great Northern
- Wales and the Borders
- Merseyrail
- Northern Rail
Community Rail Partnerships
We have developed a comprehensive package for assisting the development of Community Rail Partnerships involving:
- Full demographic profiling of the local rail market
- Analysis of 'rail travel to work' patterns using Census data
- Detailed analysis of rail demand data - LENNON and MOIRA
- User and non-user surveys of current rail services
- Service definition and specification
- Integration with other modes
- Costing of infrastructure
- Marketing and promotion

Rail Integration
The integration of rail with other modes of transport is a crucial area for improvement and development. TAS has worked with both the Go-Ahead Group and Virgin/Stagecoach on the development of bus/rail links and other integrated ticketing schemes.
Rail Industry Monitor
Rail Industry Monitor is an annual TAS publication, and is widely regarded as a key analysis of the industry's performance - being widely quoted by city analysts, academics and the media. Further details are available from TAS Publications
